Question / Issue
How do I create a back up of my quote file?

Answer / Solution

Quote file backup:

  1. Close any open quotes so that you are at a blank screen with your menus at the top.
  2. Click on Tools/ Quote Management/ System Backup. Or click on the file cabinet icon  on our Tool bar and select System Backup…

  3. You will be prompted to make sure that all users are out of the system. It is extremely important to do this to ensure that no data is corrupted in the process.
  4. Next, select items you would like to: back up, how it will back up and the location:
    • The first item, Backup/Restore Quote files must be selected to back up your stored quotes.
    •  Enable Multiple Quote Backups option allows you to create multiple copies of your entire stored quote database instead of continually overwriting the same file each time you run the back up.
    • Entering a number in the Maximum Number of Backup Quotes, will determine how many backups the program will create and then notify you once you’ve reached that number.  At that time it will ask you if you want to delete all older backups over the number that you’ve entered in this field.

    • The Miscellaneous section allows you to also choose to back up your agency information and companies that you have installed.  These items are not necessary if you only want to back up your stored quotes.
    • The Backup Directory section tells the program where to store your backups.  The program default is to a System folder under the main comparative folder. If you prefer to save your backups to another computer, network drive, etc., select the Browse button to select the location.

  5. Once you have made your selections, click on the Backup button at the bottom right corner of this screen.
  6. Your backup will begin.
  7. You will be notified once the backup process is complete.  Click on the OK button to complete this process.
  8. You will be taken back to the Backup System… screen and will see the new backup that you have created in the middle of the screen.  You will see the File Name and Backup Date and time of your new backup.

  9. Click on the Done button to close this screen.
