How to turn off the automatic checking for updates:

1. Go to the computer that you want to turn this option off for.
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Options.
3. On the General tab, go to the Update and Validation Rules section and uncheck Automatically check for updates (This will occur at system startup).
4. Click OK to save and exit this screen.
